

Gerardo (Jerry) was born in Seguin, Texas to Gerardo S. Luna and Isabel M. Luna on January 26, 1942. He went to school in Seguin, Texas. Jerry graduated from Seguin High School with Honors and Played trumpet in the high school band. Jerry attended UTSA with a Degree in Science. Jerry was a member of the United Methodist Church. Jerry worked in Security for 15 years for the City of San Antonio. Jerry was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the US Army with the 46th Infantry 1st Armored Division and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Medals, a National Defense Service Medal, a Combat Infantryman Badge, a 2dC1 Gnr (M-60 MG) Expert Rifle and received the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Jerry was also adopted by the Cherokee Indian Tribe from Arizona and was given the name “Two Crow Ring Tail”. Jerry was also a “freehand artist”. He loved to create art, particularly drawings or sketches, caricatures, and illustrations done directly by hand with close attention to detail. Jerry had a strong connection and affection for animals.
Gerardo is preceded in death by parents Gerardo S. Luna and Isabel M. Luna and brother Augustin M. Luna.
Gerardo is survived by his children: Gerardo M. Luna II, Brenda Luna, Sharon Rebecca Luna; brother and sisters, Mr. & Mrs. Gustavo Montenegro, Mr. & Mrs. Armando Luna, Mr. & Mrs. Gary Worthy, Ms Norma Guyewski, Mr. & Mrs. Pete Valadez and Mr. & Mrs. Charles Gonzales; granddaughters: Breanna Luna, Johanna Arteaga Grandson: Nathaniel Arteaga II and great-grandchildren: Audrie Fernandez, Jonah Arteaga, Nathaniel Arteaga III, Aaliyah Arteaga, Isaiah Arteaga.
A committal service for Gerardo will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, Texas 78209.
