

The South Texas Chapter of Mensa extends in deepest sympathy to family, friends and colleagues on the passing of lifetime Mensa member Glen Mack Singleton, who passed away on November 20, 2019 in his home in San Antonio, Texas.
Born in Lamesa, Texas, on June 3, 1940, Glen served in the U.S. Navy from June, 1957, to May 1961.
He completed his Electrical Mechanic apprenticeship in June, 1969, and received an Associates of Science Degree from Los Angeles Pierce College in January, 1971. For nearly 46 years he worked for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. In 1978 he joined American Mensa and ultimately became a Life Member. He served on the AML Nominating Committee, was a former editor for the MenSA newsletter.
Known for his humor, puns, and (once upon a time) red satin-lined long black velvet magicians cape, which he wore to RG's and local events, where he performed variety of tricks to delight our members-adult and children alike. He was a self-proclaimed "certified tool nut" and was putting together his long-desired woodworking shop prior to his illness and passing.
Glen is survived by his spouse, Penelope Smith-Singleton (SGM -USA, Ret.), also Life Member of Mensa. He is also survived by two nieces and their children, and his mother, who turned 101 last July.
A Memorial Service will be held at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas, on Thursday, December 5, 2019. The service and Reception will begin at 11:00 am. Movement to the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery will be a t 12:L45 pm, with grave side service (with military honors) from 1:15 - 1:45 pm.
