

Glen Russell Wickboldt was born November 29, 1948, to Elmer and Edith Wickboldt in Chicago, Illinois. Glen was raised in the suburbs of Chicago and graduated from Maine Township High School West on June 9, 1966, in Des Plaines, Illinois. Glen enlisted in the army in 1970 and proudly served his country for 22 ½ years. While in the army he served two tours of duty in Germany where he picked up the language and learned more about his heritage. During his service he received The Army Commendation Medal and The Meritorious Service Medal, along with numerous other awards.
After retiring from the army in 1992 Glen remained in the San Antonio area and worked as a commissioned security officer for another 20 years. Glen attended St. Mary’s University from 1996 to 1998, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. After earning his Bachelor’s degree he attended law school at St. Mary’s. During this time he was inducted into the Eta Psi Chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda. Following his second retirement, he enjoyed writing, collecting sports cards, cars and spending time with his grandchildren. He was able to visit Colorado and see the mountains again in 2015. He was very fond of Colorado ever since he was stationed at Fort Carson during his early years in the army.
Glen is survived by his former spouse, Donna Dannels Wickboldt, his two children, Amanda DeVage (husband Anthony DeVage) and Kyle Wickboldt (wife Chanley Wickboldt), his sister, Joan Otis (husband Bill Otis), and two nieces, Christy King (husband Carl) and Cathy Short (husband Doug), grandchildren Charlie DeVage, Sophia DeVage, Emma DeVage, and great nephews CJ King and Eric and Jen Short (daughter Katie). Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Edith Wickboldt, his brother, Wayne Wickboldt, his niece, Cindy Clifton, and his great nephew, James “Jimmy Lee” Clifton.
Funeral services will be at Porter Loring North on July 16, 2021 at 12:00 p.m., followed by a procession to Fort Sam Houston Cemetery for services at 2:00 p.m.
