Glenda Scott Jennison

Glenda Scott Jennison passed away peacefully at her home in Houston on December 7, 2025. She was 90 years young. Glenda was born in Pearsall, TX on January 14, 1935, to Walter and Ruth Scott. The family moved to San Antonio when Glenda was 5 years old, and she lived in San Antonio for the next 85 years, with short stints in Oklahoma and California.

Glenda graduated from Jefferson High School and attended the University of Texas before she married Dick Jennison in 1953, whom she met on a blind date. Glenda was smitten with Dick, and they dated for 4 years before they married. When Dick graduated from Texas A&M in 1952, he was commissioned as an Army pilot. They finally settled in California where daughter Kathy was born but then returned to San Antonio in 1957. Glenda and Dick shared 64 years of marriage before he passed in 2017. Together, they had two daughters, Kathy born in 1956 and Chrissy born in 1958.

Glenda was a stay-at-home Mother until the girls were in 7th and 5th grade. She worked at San Antonio Junior College in various capacities but ended up as an assistant to the President of the College. She retired from SAC after 17 years. Not one to sit on her laurels, Glenda worked part time for a “Welcome to San Antonio” business, greeting visitors to the city and taking them on city tours. She also sold residential real estate for Gary Greene. She finally officially retired after 12 years.

Glenda remained very close to her Jefferson schoolmates, the Jeff Gals, and many of them knew each other from grade school. Since 1985, they planned trips for a girl’s weekend, swapping stories about family, friends and grandchildren. The trips were great fun for all, and the gals came from all over Texas.

Glenda and Dick were also members of a Supper Club that started in 1957 with dinners at each other’s homes and this tradition continued for 60 years. Glenda was a marvelous cook and enjoyed entertaining.

Among Glenda’s talents were Master Gardener; prolific orchid grower; stunning seamstress who made her daughters’ clothes even through adulthood; and a member of a San Antonio Quilt Group where she made many family quilts for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She followed family history with genealogy investigation and shared her findings with both sides of the family.

She and Dick joined the San Antonio Ski Club and enjoyed many years of skiing with the club and quite a few of their friends on their own trips. Glenda and Dick also sailed on Canyon Lake as often as they could when they owned a 14‘ and 16’ Hobie cat, and eventually a 24’ sailboat.

Glenda has enjoyed a rich life, filled with family, lots of good friends and many dogs and cats. She is preceded in death by her husband Dick, her sister Diane Franklin, her parents Walter and Ruth Scott and grandson Robert Wilson. She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Barbee and husband David; Chrissy Hunnicutt and husband Hap; grandchildren Kim Bradshaw and husband Brian; Greg Wilson and wife Britney; Kelly Askew and husband Cambron; great grandchildren Hayden, Gaines and Emery Bradshaw, Eleanor and Frances Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.

Glenda’s life will be honored Monday, December 29th at 1:30 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, Texas. A reception will follow afterwards. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to First Presbyterian Church of San Antonio.
