

Gloria Valdez Casillas passed away peacefully on January 10th, 2015. She was born in San Antonio, and lived there most of her life. She lived her life with passion and caring for others. She loved gardening and cooking for her family. She was kind, compassionate and made a difference in the lives of all who knew her. She was fiercely independent and loved being in charge of her life. Despite whatever problems came her way, she found a way to resolve them.
She is survived by her children: Joe Valdez Torres and wife Judy; Elizabeth Torres Via and husband David, and Diana Valdez Casillas; daughter-in-law Diana Torres, and former daughter-in-law Nedelia Saenz. Siblings: Elvira Martinez and husband Ladisario, Frances Lefkowitz and husband Ben, Catherine Melchor, Rosie Corona, and Sister-in-law Mae Valdez.Grandchildren: Robert Torres and wife Cynthia, Andrea Greiner and husband Nathan, Melody Barefield and husband Danny, Cynthia Olmedo and husband Eduardo, Jennifer Torres, John A. Torres, Gabriella Revilla, and Matthew Casarez.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 1710 Clower St. San Antonio, TX 78201 at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday January 18th, 2015. A Rosary will precede mass at 12 noon. A reception will follow. She had a special place in her heart for children and the homeless, therefore in Lieu of flowers, we request donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at StJude.org or SAMM Ministries to aid the homeless of San Antonio at samm.org or the charity of your choice.
