

Gloria Groesbeck Kelso age 81 of San Antonio, Texas passed into God's care on November 24, 2005 when she died instantly in a two car collision. She was born in Laredo, Texas on September 1, 1924 to Frank Johnston Groesbeck, Sr. and Irene Buehlar Leyendecker. Gloria was a life long seeker of knowledge and in particular was a student of historical events. This thirst for information spurred her political activism. Her interest in the concerns of our country was an inspiration to her family and friends. Gloria was a skilled bridge and poker player, avid Spurs fan, and gardner. She will always be remembered for the joy and laughter she shared with all her friends and family. Her love of life and family will be missed for generations to come.
Gloria began her early education in Laredo with Las Damas del Sacrado Corazon followed by elementary schools in Laredo, Austin, San Antonio, and El Paso, Texas. She attended Martin High School in Laredo where she graduated in 1941, later attending the University of Texas in Austin. She married Charles 'Chuck' Delbert Jack USAF in St. Peter's Catholic Chuch in Laredo. They resided in California and Michigan several years during her husband's service in the military before returning to Laredo. Gloria later married Robert E. Kelso and they lived in various locations during her husband's Army service before being assigned to San Antonio in 1973, retiring in 1976. Divorced after 22 years of marriage, Gloria lived independently until her death.
Gloria was a member of St Pius X Catholic Church in San Antonio in addition to numerous genealogical societies including: Charter member of the CAR Children of the American Revolution in San Antonio, and later in the San Antonio de Bexar Chapter of the NDAR National Daughters of the American Revolution. Also, she was a member of the DRT Daughters of the Republic of Texas as well as the National Society of United States Daughters of 1812, Colonial Order of the Crown, The Society of Descendants of the Knights of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, The Americans of Royal Descent, and The Order of Washington.
Surviving family: Delbert and Robin Jack of Albuquerque, New Mexico and former daughter-in-law, Lauri Dickinson, and children Renee and Darren Jack and Dennis Armijo; Janice Jack Manley and husband Jimmy of Mobile, Alabama, and former son-in-law, Ronald Mehlhorn, children Jack Mehlhorn and great-grandchildren Caleb and Micah Mehlhorn. Dr. Jeff and Gloria Kelso Riddle of Sugar Land, Texas and children, Clayton, James and Andrew; Barbara Kelso of Austin, Texas and former son-in-law, Klaus Krohn, and children Kelsey and Colton Krohn.
She is also survived by brother, Frank Johnston Groesbeeck, Jr. and wife, Sue of Bullard, Texas; sister, Irene Groesbeeck Wetegrove and husband, Charles William Wetegrove Sr. of Raymondville, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews and first cousins, Hollis and Patsy Kincaid of San Antonio.
The family asks that all who knew Gloria to please remember her in life as well as in death in their prayers.
Pallbearers will be Jack Mehlorn, Darren Jack, Clayton Riddle, James Riddle, Andrew Riddle, Colton Krohn, Charles Wetegrove, Chris Wetegrove, Tom Wetegrove, Dan Wetegrove, Paul Wetegrove and Frank Wetegrove.
