
Harris Alfred Oehler was born on September 16, 1923 in San Antonio, Texas to Alfred and Annie Oehler, and he entered into eternal rest on November 21, 2010 in Houston, Texas at the age of 87. Mr. Oehler honorably retired after more than 20 years in the United States Air Force and he is a veteran of World War II. After his time in the war he came home to earn his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from Trinity University in 1950. He continued his education at University of Texas in Austin and received his Master of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering in 1954. Harris enjoyed reading, playing chess, and bowling. He was preceded in death by his nephews, David Milam and Gary Milam. He is survived by his sisters, Bernice Henry, Phyllis Milam, and Doris Taylor; nieces and nephews, Darlene Bass and husband Jim, Kent Hunter and wife Kay, Patricia Willems and husband Paul, Rebecca Taylor, Jonell Kieltyka and husband Kenneth, John Taylor, and Irene Milam; multiple great nieces and nephews, and great grand nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association. A visiation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at Sunset North Funeral Home. Graveside service will be conducted at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, November 29, 2010 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors.
