

He was known as a family man, a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. Hector loved and adored his wife Liza and always cherished his sisters.
He was a hardworking, professional law enforcement officer who dedicated 11 years to the University of Texas at San Antonio Police Department, Zapata County and Starr County as a Deputy Sheriff.
Hector was an expert marksman with both the handgun and rifle, winning numerous state wide medals and trophies in competition. He was a member of the University of Texas System Special Response Team and the prestigious Honor Guard.
Hector was an excellent instructor and the Senior Firearms Instructor for the department. He was counted by his department and those on his second shift as a caring, fair, and compassionate Leader.
Hector was preceded in death by his mother, Olga Garza Barrera.
He is survived by his wife, Liza Renee and three sons, Hector Heberto Jr. "Jay", Andres Adan "Andy" and Derek Alexander; his father, Hector Homero of Roma, Texas and two sisters, Alexia Ana and Rebecca Regina.
