Moss was born in Lewisburg, Tennessee on September 26, 1925. He moved to San Antonio and graduated from Brackenridge High School. In November 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served bravely in the Pacific Theater, including the Battles of Peleliu and Okinawa. He was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds sustained in Peleliu. After 20 years of courageous and honorable service, Moss retired from his beloved Marine Corps in July 1963 and gave an additional 10 years of service in the Marine Reserves.
After re-settling in San Antonio after his military career, Moss went on to work at Southwest Research Institute in the Engineering and Materials Sciences Division and retired after 27 years as an Engineering Technologist on September 28, 1990.
Moss loved and built all types of models including a massive train and village set, numerous working aircraft, and automobiles. Christmas was his favorite time of the year and our family tradition was to watch Griswold’s Christmas Vacation with everyone in their matching pajamas. He enjoyed the outdoors immensely and would often go camping, hiking, boating, fishing, hunting, and white water rafting. He was a devoted family man.
Moss is survived by the love of his life and the person with whom he shared a story book marriage of 67 years, Mrs. Anna Belle Green; his children Patti (John), Hank, Debbie (Jim - deceased) and Jimmy (Pam); grandchildren Jason (Vanessa), Emily, Ashley (Johnnie), Shawn (Sandra), Moss (Kaitlynn), Silvia (Toby), Jonathan, Justin (Erin), Lindsay (Ryan), Rachel (Zach), Preston and Annaliese (Burton); and great grandchildren Thatch, Rueger, Ainsley, Myra, Annabelle, Adalynn, Juniper and Payton, as well as his beloved Min-Pin Zarah. He is preceded in death by his father Henry Moss Green Sr, mother Martha R. Green, and brother Frank Green.
