

He grew up in Rochester, Minnesota, where he attended Rochester High School and Rochester Jr. College. In 1939, he graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Pharmacy.
He returned to Rochester and began his pharmacy career at Weber and Judd Pharmacy, then later became head of the pharmacy department for the Snyder Drug store located in the Crossroads shopping center.
On October 6, 1940, he married Constance Irene Koenig.
Herb was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and was a devoted member of Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester.
In January of 2000, he moved from Rochester to San Antonio, Texas to be near his son and his family.
He passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2003, at his home.
His wonderful spirit and his abiding love for his family and friends will be missed deeply.
Herb is survived by his son, Thomas R. Cole and his wife, Sharon of San Antonio, Texas; his three grandsons, Adam C. Cole and his wife, Jennifer of Houston, Texas, Justin T. Cole of Houston, Texas, and Michael J. Cole and his wife, Emily of Dallas, Texas; and one niece, Marilyn Steeg of Pennsylvania.
Herb was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Connie; and his daughter, Irene.
He will be interred alongside of his wife, Connie, in Rochester, Minnesota.
