

Herman H. Sass passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 22, 2002 in San Antonio at the age of 94. He was born in Minneapolis, MN on January 22, 1908. Herman worked as a newspaper pressman for the San Antonio Express & News from 1954 until his retirement in 1973. Herman had always worked in the printing industry. He worked many years for the Buzza greeting card company and the Minneapolis Star Tribune in Minneapolis. Herman loved the outdoors. In Minnesota he was an avid bird hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed gardening and working in his yard. He is preceded in death by his wives Helen Smith Sass, Mary Saunier Sass and Alice Langford Sass and step-daughter Carol Marcell Fulton. He is survived by his sons, Richard Sass and wife Norma of Norco, CA and Edward Sass of Bedford TX, step-daughter Joanie Petersen and husband 'Pete' of San Antonio, brother Edward C Sass of Minneapolis, MN sister Eleanor and husband Carl Larson of Robbinsdale, MN, 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his friend and housekeeper, Idalia Williams. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in San Antonio. Herman lived an active life, which included being active with the Seniors and he loved Las Vegas.
