Hermelida N Amesquita

Hermelida Navarro Amesquita, of San Antonio, TX, passed away on Tuesday, February 27th, 2024. Hermelida was born on July 13, 1942, to Pablo Navarro and Maria Gonzalez Navarro in Guerrero Tamaulipas, Mexico. Hermelida and Jose were married for 61 years. She enjoyed taking vacations with her family, working in her garden, baking her famous Christmas cookies (hojarascas), making arts and crafts, and sewing. She was a member of a bunco club which she attended every month. She retired from South San Independent School District, where she worked in the cafeteria at Athens Elementary School. She was dearly loved by family and friends and will be extremely missed by all.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Pablo and Maia Gonzalea Navarro.

She is survived by husband, Jose Eduvijes Amesquita, son, Jose Iban Amesquita (late spouse Carol Levine), daughter, Marlen Amesquita Borrego (Marcelino Borrego), grandchildren, Joe Ivan Amesquita (Veronica Amesquita), Joe Alexander Amesquita (Elena Marie Amesquita), Elijah Enoch Amesquita (Alize Molina), Tristan Amesquita Borrego (Abril Borrego Nava), and Marina Amesquita Borrego, great grandchildren, Joe Ivan Amesquita, Julianna Ivette Amesquita, Joe Maximus Amesquita, and Natalia Marie Amesquita, siblings, Elvia Morales (Javier Morales), Enedina Montalvo (Rafael Montalvo), Israel Navarro (Doris Navarro), numerous extended family and friends.

A visitation for Hermelida will be held Monday, March 11, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home, 2525 Palo Alto Rd, San Antonio, TX 78211 with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 PM. A prayer service will occur Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at 12:00 PM, 2525 Palo Alto Rd, San Antonio, TX 78211 with interment to follow at 2:15 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
