Howard Michael Arno passed away on Sunday morning surrounded by his family after his long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Mary Hastings Arno; his brothers, Andrew and James; his children, Andrew Arno and his wife, Claire of Piedmont CA, Elizabeth Arno, Stephanie Bowen and her husband, Tylden Shaeffer, Tad Bowen and his wife, Patricia; his grandchildren, Zachary and Hannah Shaeffer and Patrick Bowen and his soon to be born brother.
Born in Tyler Texas, Michael was raised in San Antonio and Austin. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Texas at Austin in 1963 with a BS in Chemical Engineering. He obtained his MBA from Harvard University in 1969, and his MD from UTHSC in San Antonio in 1974.
Michael practiced anesthesiology in San Antonio for 26 years at various area hospitals.
Over the years, Michael enjoyed collecting Texas art and antiques, restoring old houses, arrow head hunting, listening to music, and reading.
His acerbic wit and abundant knowledge will be dearly missed by friends and family.
