With great sadness, we announce the passing of INES M. JOHNSON, born in Eritrea, who left us on January 13, 2025.
Ines Johnson spent her childhood in Asmara, Eritrea, where she lived for 30 years.
After losing her mother, MEBRAT, she found in her maternal aunt, TIBLEZ YOSEPH, a loving mother figure who gave her the care and affection she needed. From a young age, Ines faced difficult challenges, starting to work at the age of 15, but always with a generous heart and incredible strength of spirit.
One of her deepest sources of gratitude was for her beloved aunt, TIBLEZ YOSEPH, who raised her as a daughter with unconditional love. As an adult, Ines repaid this love by taking care of her aunt and her family during difficult times, with sacrifice and dedication.
Ines always showed profound gratitude for all that her aunt had given her, nurturing immense affection for her.
Additionally, Ines treated her cousin SERGIO GLIOZZI as a son.
As a devoted wife, she stood by his side with love and care during his illness, until his passing in 2010.
Even after Bill’s death, Ines honored her promise to remain in Texas, close to his resting place.
Although her family wished she had moved to Italy, where they could provide her with the support and affection she deserved, Ines always chose to remain close to her late husband Bill.
Ines was a woman of extraordinary strength and independence, always ready to share her smile and generosity with anyone in need. Her passion for helping others and her love for animals were defining traits of her character. Despite the many challenges she faced throughout her life, she always maintained a positive and proactive attitude, showing great resilience.
For her niece EDEN GLIOZZI, Ines was much more than an aunt. She was a guide and a fundamental person to confide in. Ines welcomed Eden into her heart with boundless love.
Her presence was constant, always ready to offer comfort and support during difficult times, and to rejoice with her in happy moments. There are no words to express how much Ines gave her and how deeply she influenced her life.
We will never forget the special moments when Ines, through video calls, played with Eden’s daughter, SOPHIE, who was only six months old.
The last words Ines expressed were: “How are aunt TIBLEZ YOSEPH and little SOPHIE?”
This demonstrates Ines' deep love for her family.
The memories of Ines—her smiles, her sweetness, and her strength—will forever remain in the hearts of all those who loved her.
As a loving wife to WILLIAM J. JOHNSON, a wonderful cousin to SERGIO GLIOZZI, an affectionate daughter to TIBLEZ YOSEPH, and a generous aunt to EDEN GLIOZZI, Ines left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
Her love and spirit will live on in her family, SERGIO GLIOZZI, EDEN GLIOZZI, NIGHISTI and ADAM, who will always remember her with deep affection and gratitude.
She will forever remain in our hearts.
Dear Ines, rest in peace.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her beloved husband, CW5 William J. Johnson. She is survived by her cousin, Sergio and niece, Eden; and many other extended relatives and good friends.
