Iris "Susie" Ann Majors Christy

Born November 10, 1937, in Russellville, Arkansas, to Joseph Ladd and Mattie May Lampkins Majors, Iris married Sam A. Christy on March 10, 1955, in White Deer, Texas. She was a graduate of Dallas Baptist University and attended Harvard University’s Program for Management Development. Iris enjoyed a successful career as a Human Resources executive with Sun Oil and later PageNet. She was a longtime resident of Mesquite, Texas and Georgetown, Texas.

A devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, Iris loved cooking, reading, and cheering for the Spurs and the Cowboys. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Sam; her brothers Leland, Elwin, Harold, Joseph, and John; and her sisters Elise, Pauline, and Frances. She is survived by her son, Sam E. Christy; daughters Elizabeth (Tommy Guy) Cude and Mary (Eric) Folley; grandchildren Tommy Cude and Christy (Carson) Zamarron; and great-grandchildren Sadie and El Cude and Iris and Oliver Zamarron; and many nieces and nephews.

A private family interment will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice. The family extends sincere thanks to the staff of Brookdale Hamilton Wolfe and Bloom Hospice.
