Isabel's parents, Harry and Nellie Serkin, met and married in Canada after immigrating from small Ukrainian towns, once part of Russia. She was extremely close to her only sibling, older brother, Murray, who preceded her in death. In 1945, Isabel moved to Michigan, to attend Wayne University.
In Ann Arbor, Michigan she met and eventually married the love of her life - Bert Zausmer. The young couple moved to San Antonio in 1956 where Bert became a stalwart in the advertising field. Isabel was a long time member of Congregation Agudas Achim and active in numerous community and civic affairs. While she had many interests, including dear friends, gardening, baking, pets, travelling, and the San Antonio Spurs - her greatest pride was always family.
Isabel is survived by her three children and their spouses: Gary and Shelley Zausmer; Audrey and Dr. Alan Merin; and Laura and Mike Richardson - and grandchildren: Hillary, Bret, and Lindsay Zausmer; Alaina and Ariel Merin; and Melissa Richardson.
The family is eternally grateful for all the excellent medical care and compassionate attention Isabel received over the past several months, particularly from her oncologist, Dr. Yahue Gia Dice.
