With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Isaiah Luis Esparza, who left us far too soon at the age of 30. Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Isaiah was a kind and gentle soul—a quiet yet thoughtful man who loved his family and friends.
A veteran, Isaiah honorably served as a U.S. Army avionic mechanic from 2013 to 2015, rising to the rank of Specialist with assignments in Fort Riley and South Korea. He was a man of duty and responsibility, always keeping his word and standing by those who needed him. His quiet strength, unwavering loyalty, and caring heart will be deeply missed.
Isaiah is survived by his parents, Ben and Dimona Esparza; his twin sister, Maggie Esparza, her husband, Anthony Avila, and their daughter, Annalise Ramirez; his grandmother, Delia Reyes; his grandfather, Feliciano Esparza; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins. He is reunited in peace with his grandfather, SFC (RET) Oscar Reyes, and grandmother, Cristina Esparza.
His passing is a heartbreaking reminder of the silent battles so many face. Suicide is a devastating tragedy that takes far too many lives. If you are struggling, please know that help is available, and you are never alone. Talk, listen, and reach out—without judgment, without hesitation. We must break the silence and bring awareness to the importance of mental health. If even one person finds the courage to seek help, Isaiah’s light will continue to shine.
Isaiah had been missing since June 18, 2024. In gratitude for their efforts and in honor of Isaiah, we ask that donations be made to Alamo Area Search and Rescue in lieu of flowers to support their mission of finding and returning loved ones to their families.
Isaiah's memorial service will be on Monday, March 17, at 7 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Hwy. His funeral will be on Tuesday, March 18, at 10:15 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
May he rest in eternal peace.
