Ivy Wilson's soul left August 27, 2012 from San Antonio, Texas to far beyond the three continents where she had lived for the last 93 years. As the story goes, she's with her true love, Clyde, her sister Bess and brother William, and so many friends who have gone before.
The celebration of her life and the resting of her mortal remains takes place on September 4, 2012 at 9:30 am at Porter Loring Mortuary on 1101 McCullough and at 11:00 am followed by burial in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetary where she'll share a spot with her beloved Clyde.
She leaves behind three sons, Ken, Ross, and Glenn and grandchildren and great grandchildren, and some very special kitty cats who cared for her in her last years including Nurse Piggy and the ever phone-calling Daniele.
Raised among Koalas, Kukaburras, and Kangaroos, she was born in New South Wales (Google the Sydney Opera House) and went to high school in Brisbane, Queensland. For a short time, during World War II, she was a Crown Magistrate, similar to a Justice of the Peace.
Falling in love in the 40's she married a handsome redhead, Clyde, who lured her to Texas. She had remarkedly little trouble with English, and soon learned Texan mainly from eating at La Fonda.
All that Mexican food helped produce two San Antonio native sons, and then it was off to Landstul/Vogelweh Germany to beget a third.
Then it was to Camp Rucker, Alabama, then Ft Benning, Georgia, then to Wurzburg, Germany, then back to San Antonio.
After that El Paso then San Antonio, Flagstaff then San Antonio. Then very recently, Merion on Philadelphia's Main Line, and back to San Antonio.
She really liked San Antonio. And especially its First Baptist Church. And she leaves behind lots of friends from there, especially.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Television Ministries First Baptist Church of San Antonio, TX, 515 McCullough Ave, San Antonio, Tx 78215, [email protected].
