J. Kenneth Young

James "Ken" Kenneth Young went to be with our Lord on February 6, 2018. Ken was born on June 22, 1949 to parents Sammy and Tommie Young in San Antonio, Texas. Ken attended McCollum High School where he was a member of the football team. Ken was an Alumni of St Mary's University where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration.

Ken enjoyed many sports and was very appreciative that his wife of 25 years, Mary Jane, also shared the same interests in the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Cowboys. Ken was also fond of fishing with his brother-in-law Butch on several occasions.

In addition to being a devoted husband to his wife, Mary Jane, his other passion was bowling. Throughout his life he was an avid bowler all over San Antonio. Ken and his wife, frequently participated in tournaments on the local, Regional, State and National level. His passion for the sport was also demonstrated by the time he spent on the Board of Directors of the Greater San Antonio Bowling Association. It was in his work at many of the Pro Shops in San Antonio that he was able to share his passion and mentor others in the sport.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert Young, sister Beth Young Pittman, sister Donna Garnet, son James Kenneth Young Jr, and daughter Kimberly Young. Ken is survived by his wife Mary Jane Young, son Troy Young, daughter Tiffany Young, and step sons Robert Simon and John Simon Jr.

Graveside services for Ken will be conducted at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Bulverde, Texas on Monday, February 12th at 2:00 p.m.; directions are as follows.

From 1604 take Blanco Road North about 14 miles; turn right at the sign that reads "Tejas Rodeo"

with an arrow (Specht Road); follow the road for about three miles which will turn into Obst Road.

Turn right; cross the creek to the cemetery and drive to the top off the hill.
