

United States Navy Petty Officer Jack Ernest Scott, III was born on April 25, 1957 in San Antonio, Texas. His parents are Jack E. Scott, Jr., deceased, and Janet LeLaurin James. Jack and Vivian De Spain Scott and Louis and Evelyn LeLaurin were his grandparents.
He attended Alamo Heights High School and graduated from Austin Anderson High School. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. After graduating high school, he then joined the United States Navy and served in Great Lakes, San Diego, Bremerton, and the Indian Ocean when hostages were released by Iranians. Jack served as a machinist mate on the U.S.S. Ranger and once crossed the equator on a tour of duty. He was honorably discharged after six years of service.
Jack earned a Bachelor's Degree from UTSA and worked with CCI Triad in Austin for several years as their software manager until health problems occurred, causing him to resign. He endured several very serious surgeries, including liver transplant, until diabetes damaged his kidney and ended his life.
Jack is a seventh generation Texan. An ancestor on his maternal side, James Madison Franciscus (Francisco) was a patriot in the Revolutionary War from Virginia. This ancestor served in the Civil War.
Jack is survived by his mother and step-father, Col. Herman and Janet James; sister, LeLaurin Scott Schiller and her children, Bryan and Sarah Schiller; uncle, Louis LeLaurin; aunt Mary James and numerous cousins that he loved and adored. The family is grateful for the kind, intelligent care with Gentiva Hospice.
