

Jack Finley Simms, Jr., age 97 years, died on January 20, 2014 in Fischer, Texas. He was born November 12, 1916 to the late Jack F. Simms, Sr. and Helen Koch Simms in San Antonio, TX. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Jenella Kirkland Simms, his sister Margaret Simms Eaton, and his son, Jason Simms.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children Jensie and Dan Madden, Jon and Geri Simms, Jim and Mary Simms, and Jill and Rob McLaughlin; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
He will be remembered by many in south-central Texas as the President of Simms Fire Equipment Company, which built fire trucks for many small communities in the region, until his retirement in 1990. He will also be missed by the extended family which was the congregation of Hope Presbyterian Church. He served as elder, clerk of the session, and newsletter editor among his many responsibilities. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in both Alaska and Europe.
The funeral service will be held Monday, January 27 at 12 noon at Sunset Funeral Chapel, with the Revs. George and Trish Holland officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, friends are invited to make memorial contributions to the charity of their choice or to John Knox Ranch, 1661 John Knox Rd, Fischer, TX 78623.
