Jackie Leland Vernon, age 83, passed away September 12, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on December 7, 1936 in Halstead, Kansas to Louis and Glennis Harvey Vernon. He retired from the United States Air Force as a TSgt, after 20 years of dedicated service to his country. He enjoyed playing chess, horseshoes and was an avid fisherman. He had a passion for woodwork and carpentry, but more importantly he loved spending time with his family and teaching Bible studies. Jacki will be greatly missed by those that knew him.
He is survived by his wife, San Juanita Maltos Vernon; children, Crystal (Michelle) Almaraz, Jesse (Belinda) Vernon, Bryan (Ginger) Vernon, and Tanya Barrios; grandchildren, Justin Vernon, Priscilla Wolford, Vanessa Vernon, Jacob Brien, Isaiah Njiru, and B.J. Vernon; great grandson, Jeremiah Wolford.
Visitation will be on Monday, September 28, 2020 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, Texas 78238. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home with interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery #2 with U.S. Air Force military honors.
