

James (Jim) Douglas Fairchild, of Lakehills, TX, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 6th, 2024, at the age of 80. He was surrounded by his beloved family, and most importantly the love of his life, Katy Fairchild.
Jim Fairchild was born on December 27th, 1943, to Charlie & Lillian Fairchild in San Antonio, TX. In April of 1970, Jim met the love of his life, Kathleen (Katy) Fairchild. In January 1971, they married in San Antonio, TX, where they shared an amazing and inspirational love for almost 53 years. Together they raised their two children, Kyle Wear and Sheryl (DeeDee) Mesa.
He is survived by his Beloved wife, Katy Fairchild, his two children, Son, Kyle Wear, Daughter, DeeDee Mesa. His Amazing Grandchildren Kelley Gonzales (spouse Eric), David Wear (spouse Kayla), Kasey Wear and Kevin Mesa. In addition, eleven wonderful Great Grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, Family and Friends! He is preceded in Death by Mother and Father, his two Brothers Mark and Roy Fairchild, and his Beloved Daughter-n-law, Virginia Wear.
Jim joined the United States Navy in 1961 and served our Country proudly for 4 years during the Cuban conflict. He served as a Machinery Repairman on the USS Gyatt, which was the first guided missile destroyer. Majority of his work life was as a Master Machinist at the American Can Company in San Antonio, TX. Once he retired at the early age of 45, Jim dedicated many years to the Texas 8 Masonic Lodge as a 32nd degree Mason and continued on to become a Shriner. In addition to his many accolades, Jim was a very simple man! He loved nothing more than spending time with his family, and most importantly his one true love and Boo, Katy!
Services will be held at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78218 on Thursday, January 18th, 2024. Viewing/Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and Funeral Service will follow right after at 1:00 pm. A reception will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Reception Hall to include snacks and refreshments.
In lieu of flowers, Family is requesting donations be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children at www.shrinerschildrens.org.
