

Col. James Dillard Morgan went to be with our Lord on Monday, March 1, 2011, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born August 10, 1920, in Monterey, Tennessee to Oscar and Zora Morgan. Col. Morgan was preceded in death by his daughter, Laurie J. Morgan, and his brother, Bransford Morgan. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Betty Joy Morgan; his brother, Whitney and wife Pat Morgan of New Bern, NC; his nephew, Barry and wife Linda Morgan of Atlanta, GA; and his niece, Faye Montgomery of Haines City, FL.
Col. Morgan was a devoted member of Castle Hills Christian Church. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942 and retired from the Air Force after 31 years. Another of the Greatest Generation, he was a pilot and had his own crew. Col. Morgan served during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He received his pilot's license before he received a driver's license. He served in the Pentagon for number of years.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
