

In tribute to James Edward Storbeck January 2, 1948 – April 8, 2014 James Edward Storbeck, Ph. D., was born January 2, 1948 in San Antonio, TX, to John Henry Storbeck Jr. and Elinor Rebecca Worthy. James graduated from Central Catholic High School in San Antonio 1966. James was full of intellect, knowledge and fun; he could put a smile on anyone. James loved the curiosities of travel and before settling into his career in higher education, he traveled from San Francisco to Philadelphia and many places in between. While in Berkeley, CA he worked for the United States Postal Services delivering mail by foot and acquired one of his many nicknames of “The Incredible Walking Dude”. While in Philadelphia he sorted mail on a train delivering between Philadelphia, Boston, New York and the Washington D.C . area. He received his BA in Urban Geography at Temple University 1973, his MA in Population Geography also at Temple University in 1976 and his PhD in Business Administration/Public Policy/Sociology at the University of Texas Austin in 1980. James was worldly in his teachings at Ohio State University, University of Strathclyde (Scotland), University of Warwick(England) and University of Texas at Brownsville where he taught Performance Management in the Business School through the fall semester of 2013. James produced over 45 publications in academic journals over the past 36 years of teaching.
He is survived by his Mother Elinor R. Storbeck, his son John D. Storbeck, his daughter Kelsey E. Storbeck, his sister Doris Giorda of Rockport, Tx, his brothers John (Rusty) Storbeck of Santa Fe, NM, Joseph G. Storbeck of Round Rock, TX, Michael P. Storbeck of Dallas, Tx, his loving dog Smalley and many friends and relatives.
Services will be at Sunset Funeral Home, Wednesday April 16, 2014, visitation will be at 11:00am followed by the service at 12:00pm. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery #3.
