James J. Woodson, age 88, of Bulverde, died Friday, August 16, 2013. He was supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. The selfless, giving father of Donna Doyle and husband, Jerry and Susan Woodson and Bershert Ron Isgur and the grandest grandfather of Lana and her husband, Piers Bambridge, David Lobo, Jason Lobo and Neva Doyle.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Marcella Woodson (Gilley) and his 2 siblings, Donald Woodson and Shirley Boersig. He is survived by countless adored nieces and nephews who considered him a second father.
Shortly after a St. Louis wedding in 1950, he relocated with his new bride to San Antonio, where he became a true Texan, through and through. He retired from Fort Sam Houston Civil Service and served with the crew of the "Dinah Might" for the Navy Air Force in WWII. In the past, he was an avid member of the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association of Texas and claimed the title of "Texas State Champ" in 1968.
He had a huge heart and donated to countless charities. We will dearly miss you, Jim.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
