I remember going to Scottsdale and having delicious meals. It's been 10 years and we all miss you dearly. May God continue to watch over you and give you peace from illnesses and pain.

I wish to express my deepest sympathy to the Boswell Family during this trying time in their lives. Your family are in my prayers. May God touch each of your hearts with healing for your loss.

Dennis, we are so sorry for the loss of your wife. I dread the day one of us goes to be with the Lord. You are right in knowing you will see her again. Jan "Ma" to me was one of the warmest, kindest woman I've ever met. Being one of her Sons-In-Law, I had a chance to spend time with her and get to know her. I was always embraced, listened to,cooked for boy could she cook!and in general loved overall by this awesome lady. I will cherish my many memories of the time I spent with her. She had a real ease about her nature that made me feel comfortable and immensely loved. She was a hugger, who had a sweet spirit about her that resonated with me. I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent with her, often which was filled with laughter. She laughed easily, inviting others to do the same, and I appreciated that about her as well. She also had a way of keeping the things and occurences of life in perspective which reminded me to do likewise. She had a way of disarming people with her kindness. She always insisted formalities be dropped in favor of genuine sincerity, and personal connection. I could go on and on, but I will just say I loved that woman, I will miss her terribly, but will unequivocally see her again in Heaven. Until then Ma.... Todd Shaffer

Dennis and Family members, I am so sorry to hear of Jan's passing. Even though we have never met personally with our Brister Family connection, we have enjoyed one another on the computer. Losing a mate in death after a long happy marriage is very sad. Remembering the happy times can help heal some of the present grief. My parents were married almost 70 years. My mother died 2003 and Daddy our Brister connection died 2006, so I understand your adult children's sorrow, but yet the joy of having had a Christian parents as I had. The picture of Jan shows that she was a very pretty lady. Her smile is natural and warm. As Christians, we know that the earthly body is only temporary, but our heavenly body is eternal and Heaven has always been our ulitmate destination. Having a Christian mate and especially a Christian mother is God's plan for the family. 
Dennis, you and I discovered one another through our computer genealogy. Your Attala County MS g-gf Moses Andrew and my g-gf Silas Walton Brister were brothers. We also discovered that due to the early postpartum death of Silas' wife my gg-gm, that my gm spent her early years living in the home of your "Texas Bristers." That is term my Mississippi Brister family called your "Texas Brister" family. You have identified pictures of your Texas Family found in my father's baby book. The pictures were made during one of your family's visits to their Mississippi Brister Family living in the little town of West, MS, which is located in Holmes County just next door to Attala County. I am writing this explanation for the benefit of your children, so that they know our connection. You and my husband CB have also corresponded with one another. I met Jan once when I had lunch with her and Dennis. She was such a sweet and lovely person. I enjoyed my lunch with the both of them. Walthall, Sachse & Pipes sends our sympathy and prayers to the family. May God's faith help you through this tough time.

Jan was a wonderful, energetic woman. I was blessed to have the opportunity to be in Jan's life during these past two years. Her love for life was echoed in her smile. My sincere thoughts and prayers are with Dennis and her family.
