Janice Smith, quietly passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the young age of 33. She was born on February 3, 1984 in San Antonio, Texas to parents, Carlos Ontiveros and Patricia Herrera. She was the light that gathered family and friends around, keeping everyone united. Janice was full of compassion, and was well loved by anyone that knew her. She had many natural talents, but cooking one was of her favorites; Lasagna was her most famous dish. Janice also loved to travel and has been to St. Lucia, China twice, Ireland, and Hawaii.
Janice spent many years studying in the field of education, and graduated from the University of the Incarnate Word, with a Master's degree in Education. She pursued the elementary level as a Third-grade teacher, working at Sun Valley Elementary, where she strived to help each student meet their potential. In 2004, she met and married the love of her life, Randy Smith. They spent 14 delightful years together, and began their family with the joy of their life, Camile Smith.
Janice is survived by her loving husband of 7 years, Randy Smith; and her two-year old daughter, Camile Smith; parents, Carlos Ontiveros (Maria), and Patricia Herrera (Bryan); sister Chantal Ontiveros; grandparents, Delia Ontiveros and Rosalio Ontiveros; grandmother, Gertrude Herrera (Nanny); brother, Ryan Smith (Misa); mother-in-law, Teri Morkunas (George); nephew, Gage Garcia; and numerous relatives and friends.
Janice will always be a part of our hearts and she will be deeply missed. Her legacy of being that loving, upbeat, artistic person will live on forever.
