Jean Howard, born Eliza Jean Tate, went home to be with our Lord on September 16, 2016 at the age of 89 years. She passed peacefully with family at her side. Jean was born in Belfast, TN on October 16, 1926 to Ernest Cloyd and Ophelia (Hardin) Tate; she was an only child. As a devout follower of our Lord Jesus Christ, and a prayer warrior for many, she never hid her ‘light’ or love for our Lord and gratefully shared it with everyone she encountered.
Jean was a lover of learning and “words” always believing there was more to discover. She was a cherished member of the Hill Country Legacy Writers where her writings blessed so many. Her emotions flowed on the pages of her writings in a way that allowed the reader to come into her world to share her tears of sadness, of nostalgia, or of humor. The legacy group will truly miss “our writing angel who taught us all so many life lessons and how much God loves each of us”.
Although her professional life included employment with Remington Rand and The Bank of Frio Canyon, her legacy and passion was a “believer” first, and she cherished her role as a mother and grandmother to her dying day. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jack Howard, her parents, and many other treasured family and friends.
A woman well loved, she is survived by many. Her children: Thomas Fusselman, Daniel Fusselman (Eve), Robert ‘Bob’ Howard (Trisha), Vicky Rine (Rodney), Patrick Howard (Sharee), Norman Joseph ‘Joe’ Howard (Corine), and Lisa Johnston (Mark). Grandchildren: Phillip (Kristin), Christopher (Kacey) and Michael Howard (Amber), Lynn Howard, Hailey Rine, Jordan Fusselman (Rhea), Cassie Rine, Claire Howard, Abby and Carrie Johnston. She is also survived by cherished cousins: Dottee and Laura Jean; great-grandchildren: Justin A., John, Matthew, Madison, Justin M., Benjamin, Caroline Howard and Jade-Lynn Venetis, along with many friends she counted as family.
A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Burial Park on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with reception to follow at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home.
