

She completed high and technical school classes before working as a secretary at a canning factory in Wisconsin. She married Sylvester O'Rourke on September 21, 1950 and was a homemaker caring for their seven children. During summers, she always worked at "Louie Elika's fruit/vegetable stand" and loved meeting and serving return customers each season. When her children were grown, she sold Avon until she and Sylvester moved to Safford, AZ in November 1982 where she lived until 2008.
She moved to San Antonio in 2008, always being proud to say that she got here on St. Patrick's Day. She was a lifetime member of the Safford Women's Auxiliary of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She was a member of Shepherd King Lutheran Church in San Antonio. Once settled in San Antonio, she became "mom" to a special group of "YaYas". She will be lovingly remembered for her smile and joy in life, her dedication to her family, her fearlessness and her faith, and her concern for those who were in need.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, Sylvester O'Rourke.
Jeanette is survived by her sons, Michael O'Rourke and wife Kay, Mark O'Rourke and wife Marla, Malcolm O'Rourke, Martin O'Rourke and wife Jean, Mitchell O'Rourke and wife Jody; daughters, Patricia O'Rourke, Kathleen Hamric and husband Tom; grandchildren, Daniel, Christopher, Nathan, Ryan, Patrick, Jeanette, Riley and Shannon; beloved canine grandson Harley (along with a number of other canine and feline grand "kids"); great-grandchildren, Peyton, Reese, Henry, Owen and Benjamin; sister-in-law, Dolores O'Rourke; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, May 8, 2016. at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
