Jennifer "Jen" Kate Minick

Jen was born in LaGrange, Indiana to Lawrence and Kathleen Minick on April 28, 1975. Jen grew up in Plano, Texas where she developed a passion for athletics and was a skilled soccer and volleyball player. She graduated from Plano Senior High School in 1993 and went on to study at North Texas University. Jen worked as a legal secretary for many years in the Dallas area.

Jen married Andrew (Andy) Lance in 2008, and they blessed the world with Savannah Kathleen Lance on October 1, 2009. Jen was a devoted mother to Savannah and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her. Jen was a true animal lover but was especially caring to stray or homeless animals. Jen loved to garden and collect rocks and minerals. She always had an assortment of potted plants and rocks on her front porch to share with the world. Jen had an outgoing personality, and she loved to make new friends. Her loud voice and easy laugh always made her stand out in any crowd.

Jen is preceded in death by her father Lawrence Carl Minick and her mother Kathleen Mary (Rooney) Minick.

Jen is survived by her daughter Savannah Kathleen Lance, brother Matthew Eric Minick, brother Michael Gregory Minick (Celeste Hernandez), nieces Caitlynd Trea Hernandez-Minick, Laurel Cathleen Hernandez-Minick, and Josie Elia Hernandez-Minick, former husband Andrew (Andy) Lance, and many other extended family members.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 Friday March 14, 2025, and a Rosary service will start at 7:00 at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy., San Antonio, TX 78218.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 Saturday March 15, 2025, at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy., San Antonio, TX 78218.

Jen’s final resting place will be next to her mother at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 7405 W Northwest Hwy., Dallas, TX 75225. Interment of ashes will be a small family event at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations in Jen’s honor to the Austin Humane Society to carry on her legacy of love for animals.
