

Jerrie Sue Channell was born in Leesville, Louisiana Dec 1, 1942; to Geraldine and Thomas Matheson. Jerrie was reunited in death by her husband, George Channell, parents, and sister, Tomi Louise White. She is survived by her brother, David Boyett Matheson, her two daughters, Dawn Stasny (Tony) and Laura Ann Creswell (Gary); her six grandchildren, Tara Brown, Trevor Brown (Dawn) Nick Parker, Logan Bearwald, Cullum Robertson and Tucker Phillips (Laura). One great-granddaughter, Bayzlee and many special nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Jerrie was born into a military life and continued that life with her husband. She enjoyed her life traveling and living in numerous states and countries. She studied nursing at Texas Women’s University. She worked many years at Brooke Army Medical Center as a medical transcriptionist. Jerrie loved to sing and act, she did many performances for military families. One of her memories was telling the story about how she was walking down the street at Ft. Hood with her swim suit on and Elvis Presley slowed down his car and gave her a whistle. In Jerrie’s last years she enjoyed visiting her special friends and relatives both near and far. Her love these past years were for her little companion “Munchkin”.
Celebration of life will take place at 12:00 p.m. Monday, December 14, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Albert Byrom officiating.
