Jerry lost his battle to cancer but no matter what, he came out as a hero and fought it till the end. He was preceded in death by his mother, Josefina Santacruz, his father, Franco Santacruz, his brother, Mario Santacruz, and his sister, Anna Pilgrim. Jerry is survived by his adoring wife of 23 years, Estela Santacruz and his beloved daughter, Victoria Santacruz.
Jerry was born on September 6, 1954, to parents Josefina Espinoza, and Franco Santacruz, in San Antonio, Texas. Jerry was a graduate of Thomas Edison High School. He then enlisted in the Navy and served from 1974 to 1977. After that time, he worked as a manager at Dillard’s then eventually started to work in real estate with his father Franco Santacruz. Later, he branched off on his own and became his own boss.
Jerry then went on in 1999 to meet the love of his life, Stella, through his best friend Ted Droomgole. It was love at first sight; they got married and eventually had their daughter Victoria. His favorite role in life was being a husband and father. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family.
Jerry loved the outdoors and taking care of his yard; it was his sanctuary. When he was not working, he loved spending time outdoors with his family, friends, and his dogs. On the weekends, he enjoyed listening to music, barbecuing, and drinking his favorite Jack and Coke or a Bud Light.
Jerry’s legacy will be carried on by his loving family and friends. He will be deeply missed, but forever remembered for his work ethic, sense of humor, style, unconditional love, wisdom, and the positive impact he made on the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.
