Jesse Martinez Alonzo, Jr., age 55, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born in San Antonio, Texas, to parents, Elena and Jesse Alonzo Sr. (deceased). He had several names: Jesse, Papa Bear, Dad, JR, and Gentle Giant. All to which he answered humbly and proudly.
Jesse retired from Brauchle Elementary School as a Custodial Supervisor after 19 years of service. He took great pride in his job saying, "Kids need a clean learning environment that will make them happy to learn". He was a strong a man of faith. A member of the Knights of Columbus, the ACTS community, and SCC Small Christian Community. Gifted with a green thumb, he would say that God gives us pretty flowers and plants so we should help them grow to enjoy them. He loved feeding and watching the birds, especially the cardinals. His favorite hobby was fishing. He loved the water, the sun, the beach - all of it. He was quiet yet very observant with a great sense of humor. He was a kid at heart with a jovial laugh that was so contagious. He endured many years with several health issues, yet he was a survivor. His spirit was all about service. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus that provided him the opportunity to serve the community by helping with Taco Sales, selling roses on Mothers Day, grilling turkey legs for festivals, and doing prayer blankets for nursing homes, just to name a few. He loved it all, every minute of it. He was a true servant of God. He was part of the ACTS community and each Candlelight Service felt like his first. He was also part of his crew, (aka) SCC - Small Christian Community. He was a spiritual warrior and a true example that trials and tribulations are always given as a gift to blessings. He never wanted people to feel sorry for his health issues because he knew that GOD had a bigger plan for him. The plan to embrace each day as a gift. The gift of blessings.
Jesse is survived by his wife of sixteen years, Monica Alonzo; his son, Roger D. Lew Jr.; sister, Olga Rodriguez & husband, Frank; brother, Jimmy Alonzo & wife, Brenda; brother, George Alonzo & wife, Belinda; numerous Brother in Laws, Sister in Laws, Nephews, Nieces, Cousins, Aunts and Uncles. He loved his large family, and he will be greatly missed. However, the comfort is knowing he was welcomed home saying "Its Amazing! Its Amazing"
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Sunday, August 28, 2022, at Porter Loring Mortuary.
