Jim J Dukes, a man of unwavering faith and profound intelligence, embarked on his heavenly journey on May 15, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. Born on April 10, 1948, in Jacksonville, Florida, Jim's life was a testament to his loving nature and an inspiration to all who had the privilege of crossing his path. His legacy is one of dedication, service, and an enduring love for the truths he held dear.
Jim leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his devoted wife,Connie Dukes, and their children: Paul Dukes (Kam), Mark Dukes, Phillip Dukes, Cindy Gongora (Jesse), and Cara Houriet (Jean Pierre). Jim was a proud grandfather to Valerie, Joshua, Elijah, Jacob, Kennedy, Noah, Colton, Caden, Cale, Chloe, Luke, Lila, and Tate. His great-grandchildren: Marin, Owen, Eloise, Henley Jo, Rhys, and Waylon brought immense joy into his life.
Jim's pursuit ofjustice and protection led him to earn a degree in Criminal Justice, a field where he would leave an indelible mark. His remarkable career began at the White House in 1970, where he served as a Secret Service agent under Presidents Nixon and Ford. His commitment to safeguarding the nation's leaders was but a reflection of his broader commitment to his country and its values. In 1975, Jim transitioned into a role that would define much of his professional life, becoming a US Senior Special Agent. For thirty years, until 2005, he worked tirelessly to uphold the law and ensure the safety of his fellow citizens.
But Jim was much more than his professional accolades. His heart was always seeking knowledge, understanding, and connection. He found solace and strength in Bible studies, fervently believing in the power of faith to move mountains and comfort souls. Jim's passion for genealogy was not just a hobby but a journey into the past, to understand his roots and the intricate tapestry of family history.
An active member of the National Rifle Association, Jim advocated for responsible gun ownership and the preservation of constitutional rights. His love for bird watching was similar to his approach to life—patient, observant, and full of wonder at the world's natural beauty. A student of history, Jim was always ready to share a story or insight, enriching the lives of those around him.
Perhaps one of the causes closest to his heart was the peace of Jerusalem and Israel. Jim's devotion to this ideal was a reflection of his broader desire for harmony and understanding in an often tumultuous world. He believed in the power of prayer and action to bring about change, both in the sacred city and beyond.
Jim's life can best be summed up by the words loving, intelligent, and faith-filled. He touched lives not only through his actions but also through the wisdom he imparted. In the spirit of his motivational essence, let us remember the words of Helen Keller: "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched—they must be felt with the heart."
To know Jim was to know a man who lived by this creed. His life was a canvas of actions felt with the heart, leaving a legacy that continues to inspire and motivate. Jim's story encourages us to be vigilant guardians of our values, passionate seekers of knowledge, and unwavering in our faith.
As we celebrate Jim J Dukes and the life he lived, let us carry forward the light he shone in this world—a light of love, intelligence, and faith that will continue to guide us in our own journeys. Jim's memory will forever be a beacon of hope and an example of a life well-lived.
