

He was born in Burkburnett, Texas, the son of John and Mary Gormley. Jim grew up in Gladewater, Texas, where he graduated from Gladewater High School. Jim served four years in the Air Force with duties in France, Germany and England.
After he was discharged, he attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock and graduated with a BA degree. He married Margie Kimmel in 1960. He started his career in insurance claims with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in San Antonio and New Orleans.
In 1969, he began working for USAA and retired as an Assistant Vice President of South Central Claims in 1986. He then moved to Waukesha, Wisconsin for one year and was employed as a consultant and Vice President of Claims for Classified Insurance Company.
Jim leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Margie; his son, Darin and wife, Linda; and three grandchildren, Denton, Dillon and Dustin.
Jim will be remembered for his happy, pleasant outlook on life. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. He was a man who was steadfast in his convictions, honest, dedicated and loyal. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 20, 2010, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
