With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Joe Toland Maurin on April 1, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on August 5, 1935, in Taft, Texas, and raised in Rio Hondo, Texas, Joe's life was a testament to his unwavering faith and spiritual strength.
After graduating from The University of Texas, Joe dedicated his life to the land, working as a farmer and rancher in South Texas and Montana where he raised Santa Gertrudis crossbred cattle with a passion that was unmatched.
But beyond his work, Joe found joy as a private pilot in the skies above, as he loved to fly and soar amongst the clouds. A man of God, Joe's commitment to his faith was unwavering. He was known for his generosity and dedication to the church, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. His kindness and compassion touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact wherever he went.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Maurin, his sons Mark Maurin and Trace Maurin (Bethel), and his cherished granddaughter, Logan Maurin. His legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we mourn the loss of a remarkable man, we find comfort in the knowledge that Joe is now at peace in the arms of the Lord. May his spirit continue to guide and inspire us, reminding us to live with love, faith, and compassion in all that we do.
