'When I was a young man, my uncle Joe was one of my greatest Inspirations. He was everything I wanted to be: educated, hard worker, family man, hospitable (his home was always our home), generous, a man's man. I wanted to be a computer programmer just like him. I would tell him, "I want to be successful like you." He would say, "mijo, don't talk about it - just do it!" I remember my first few semesters of college bragging to him about my straight As. I don't think he realized the impact he had on me as a young man. When my father was laid off in during the oil crash of the 80's - he was there to lend us a helping hand. What an example of a good Christian man! Uncle Joe passed a few days after my mother. God bless their souls for the good they brought this world!'

'My thoughts are prayers are you with Joe and your entire family. You always has a smile on your face with was so contagious. You will always hold a special place in our hears.

'Till this day, I still remember my first day of Kindergarden. My parents worked early and there was only one person who could take me to my first day, my best friend. I was dropped off at my grandparents house where I ate a breakfast of eggs atop of french fries (now I know is a staple breakfast of Spain) After breakfast he drove me to Thousand Oaks Elementary in his two door pickup. He walked me in hand in hand and greeted himself to my first teacher ever. At some point in the conversation, she looked at me and said " me and you Grandfather are going to talk a little while, why don't you go and color at your seat". I sat at my seat and colored in a outlining on my name ( to this day i still remember what it looked like), and talked to the girl next to me. Time passed and I realized " Hey! Wheres my Grandpa!!".. This Ms. Whatever tricked me. She occupied me so she could easly make the transition of my Grandfather leaving me alone on my first day of school the easiest. We often talked about this story on lazy Sunday afternoons. I loved telling telling it and in know her loved hearing it.

'What I remember about my Uncle Joe. I remember that he always had a smile. He always greeted me with, "hi mija, come give me a hug," and "you're so beautiful." That's the way he was. He saw beauty in everyone. He was joyful, and a peacemaker in the family. He loved to laugh! And was always sincerely interested in how I was doing, which was followed by a, that's good! He was just a very caring positive man who genuinely loved to unabashedly show love toward others, especially his family. I am so thankful to have known him and had him in my life. Love you, Uncle Joe. May you enjoy being in the presence of our Lord!'

'My brother lived a long and successful life. What I remember the most about him was his thoughtfulness and kindness towards me and my parents when we made the move to San Antonio in the 50"s. His kindness didn't stop there, he continued to show that love to my children, Selina and Mark. In the latter years of his life I thought about his salvation, I couldn't bear the thought of him leaving this world without first accepting Jesus Christ into his heart. One night God impressed upon my heart that I should visit Joe, but first call Cindy my niece in Houston. I told her what God showed me that night and she told me she had the same thought. So it was confirmed and a day later she was in San Antonio. With the help of the Holy Spirit, Cindy and I paid Joe a surprise visit. We presented the gospel to him and he listened. After awhile I asked him if he wanted to receive Jesus Christ into his heart and he said yes. I helped him through the prayer and today he is in heaven with Father God and Son Jesus Christ for eternity. Someday I will see him again.
