Tricia, Joe and I just learned about Johnny's death from Bill & Becky Rasor. Our hearts are heavy with grief, but laughing memories come quickly when remember ing Johnny and our relationship with him, you, and Pat while we trying to grow into adults living in McKinney those many years ago! To Johnny's Family, my sincere and heartfelt condolences. I remember him well as my former math student at AHHS.

I am so sorry to see this. I have not seen John in many years but I look back on our friendship with fond memories. I was his little league catcher. He was a year behind me at Alamo Heights. His Dad was the coach and we were a happy group. He was a great young man. I can vouch for that. We had a good life.

Lacy, I was only around your dad a couple of times when he came up to Dallas and I found him to be quite entertaining. He seemed like he was always laughing and enjoying life. I am so sorry for your loss and I will be praying for you.

"Johnny never met a stranger".  Whoever wrote that was spot on.  When I came unexpectedly into AHHS in the Fall of 1963 he treated me like we'd been friends all our lives.  That was very important because of the existing caste system.  I never felt like an outcast after becoming his friend.  
I loved playing basketball with Johnny, Coach and others from his nice circle of friends.

I loved Johnny like a brother. In fact, throughout our many experiences together, the question that was asked many times, "Are ya'll brothers?" Made me proud to think I looked like him. Lacy, even though these past several months have been very tough, I've been blessed to get to know and love you more. You, Trish and Pat could not have shown Johnny more love. I can't think of Johnny without thinking of his Granddad, Levis; Both Johnny and Levis loved their cigars, and both were taken from us too soon.

I have not seen Johnny since we graduated, but if I close my eyes I still see him in the huddle of Jr high football calling the plays. Such a nice guy and the sweetest spirited person I ever knew. Sorry I will not be able to be at the service, but my prayers go out to his family.  We all got old too soon.

From the time I met him in junior high through 4 years at AHHS, I never remember Johnny saying a discouraging word to anyone--not the easiest thing to do in high school.  Though I wasn't his  close friend, he always made me feel good when I was around him.  I will miss him just because of this, as will so many others!

So sorry to hear of Johnny's passing!  He was such a sweet soul - had so many good times with him in HS and college.  My thoughts and prayers of peace go out to his family.

A final goodbye to the love of my life. Rowland, Lacy, Trish, Pat and Amy my heart is broken for you. Johnny was a powerful force and I know his leaving has created a giant void in your lives. My thoughts are with you.

Johnny was a terrific classmate at AHHS.  Always smiling and very friendly. I was glad to have chatted with him briefly at our 45th class reunion three years ago and wish now I had talked with him more.  He will be missed by many!
