
December 25, 2009, at the Village of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio, Texas. He was 79 years old.
John earned his undergraduate degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio earned his Ph.D. in history from St. Louis University in Missouri. His academic specialization centered on Tudor history and the reign of Henry VIII.
During the Korean War, John enlisted in the Air Force and served from 1949 until 1953. After he was honorably discharged, he continued his undergraduate education and ultimately his doctorate.
John traveled extensively and worked in Saudi
Arabia at Riyadh University, where he taught history and English. He traveled to Thailand where he taught English as a second language. After working for Saudi Aramco, John returned to the United States and settled in San Antonio, where he taught at the University of the Incarnate Word before retiring in 1985. In his retirement, John taught history as an adjunct professor for San Antonio College at Fort Sam Houston.
John's parents predeceased him. There are no surviving relatives.
His many friends including neighbors and colleagues wish to thank the Extended Care staff in the Village of the Incarnate Word and the loving service provided by Hospice and Palliative Care, Christus VNA.
