
John W. Williams, age 83, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2012 in San Antonio. John and his wife, Laura, were married at St. Ann's Catholic Church on June 26, 1948, after meeting during Fiesta week in 1946. Both are lifelong Texans - descendants of early pioneer families and also lifelong residents of San Antonio.
John graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1946. He worked for Braniff Airways for 35 years in ground operations. Subsequently, he spent three years in Saudi Arabia in airport facilities during the initiation phase of a new airport in Riyadh. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War.
John and Laura were former parishioners of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and were founding members of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in 1964. They both gave time and talents working with many organizations to establish a Holy Spirit community. John and Laura's daughters attended Blessed Sacrament and Holy Spirit schools, CCD and were active in CYO programs. They graduated from Churchill High School and attended various Universities.
John is survived by his wife of 64 years, Laura Williams; daughters, Suzanne (Konrad) Kaltenbach of Dallas, Cathy Ashcraft of San Antonio, Betsy Williams of St. Louis, MO; and grandchildren, Amy and Joe Ashcraft of San Antonio.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, June 3, 2012, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
