Jose Santos Mercado, born March 3, 1958 in Juchipila Zacatecas, went to be with the Lord on April 21, 2022 at the age of 64. He came to Texas in 1979, learned english as his second language and years later became a naturalized American citizen.
He is survived by his spouse, Rosie G. Mercado; children, Louis Garcia Jr, Angela Vergara, Joseph Mercado, Blanca Villanueva; grandchildren, Louie, Paul Edward, Ahnaya, Vida and Lydi; parents, Placido Mercado and Felicitas Gomez Mercado and numerous siblings.
His hobbies included gardening, wood crafting, bird watching and being outdoors. He was a man of great faith and served as a deacon at Valley Hi First Baptist Church for many years. He enjoyed time with his church community, family vacations and road trips.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 from 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm with a prayer service to be held at 6:00 pm. On Wednesday, April 27, 2022 visitation will continue from 8:00 am - 1:00 pm with a funeral procession to depart at 1:30 pm for interment at San Jose Burial Park.
