

Josephine Emma Bartlett passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2015, after living 90 years to its fullest. Jo was the first child of Frederick and Elsa Louisa Seiler born at home in DeWitt County, Texas on March 14, 1925. She attended school through the eighth grade and began many years of work. For a short time she was married to John Legg before he died. While working in Corpus Christi she met Gene (Everette E) Bartlett and they married. Gene began a career with the federal government and they moved to San Antonio where Jo was able to be a homemaker.
Together Jo and Gene were active with St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star, and the San Antonio Genealogy and Historical Society. For many years Jo was a competitive dog obedience trainer. They competed in many shows throughout the state. Jo was proficient with the crochet hook and the sewing machine. She sewed all of her own clothing.
Josephine is preceded in death by her husbands, parents, sister Rosenell Duran and brother Roylee Seiler.
She is survived two brothers, Alfred Seiler, Buda, TX and Alvin Seiler, New Braunfels, TX, and three sisters, Alma (aka Dusty) Sherrill, San Antonio TX, Rosalia
Autry, Lindale TX, and Gladys Duran, Mineola, TX, as well as nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews.
A memorial service will be held 2pm, Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, 722 Robinhood Place, San Antonio, TX 78209. Condolences may be offered at www.sunsetfuneralhomesa.com.
