Josephine Watson passed peacefully July 3, 2015, at age 97, joining her husband of 70 years, Charles R. Watson, who preceded her in 2007. Her son, Charles, Jr., "Skipper," and daughter-in-law, Janita, were at her side.
Jo was born on a farm near Ravanna, Miller County, Arkansas, to Aubrey and Edna Bell Allen. She was the second of eleven children. Of those surviving childhood she is survived by Willa Mae Mann of Dallas and Harold Allen of Ravanna and was preceded in death by Billy Rae Allen, A.D. Allen, and Elaine Slay. Her sister-in-law, Betty Watson, whom Jo regarded as a sister, preceded her earlier this year.
Jo and Charles married in 1937 while attending Arkansas A&M. They moved to San Antonio following WWII where he began his career with Osborn Oil Company. They were founding members of the Sunset Ridge Church of Christ. Known for her beautiful silver hair, quick wit and wry sense of humor, Jo was devoted to her family, friends and church. She will be missed.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 7, at the Sunset Ridge Chapel, 95 Brees Blvd, San Antonio.
