He leaves behind his beloved wife of 56 years, Margarita Gonzales Martinez; his daughters, Elva Apodaca and Lisa Alexander; his sons, Michael Martinez and Juan Martinez, Jr.; his eleven grandchildren; his four great grandchildren; his sister, Eva Costilla; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was loved and respected by all.
Juan proudly served his country for 23 years in the United States Air Force. He continued as a civil servant in support of fellow veterans at the Audie L. Murphy Memorial VA Hospital in San Antonio for 20 years.
