Juan Gonzales Regino, 90, went to be with our Lord on October 9, 2020. He was born on May 27, 1930 in San Antonio, Texas to his mother, Petra Gonzales Regino. Juan loved music, whether it was singing, playing guitar, saxophone, or dancing. He also loved to read and write daily entries in his journal.
Juan enlisted in the U.S. Air Force at the age of 18 and served from 1948-1950. He was honorably discharged and was then drafted into the U.S. Army the following year. He was 21 years old and served from 1951-1953. Juan married his beautiful wife, Juanita M. Regino, on May 3, 1952 and they had 5 children.
Education was very important to him, but he had to make the hard decision to leave high school to support his mother and siblings. He never gave up his dream to get a better education, so he returned to school in his mid 30s and received his GED. After receiving his GED, he worked at Kelly AFB in the Special Weapons Department as an electronic technician leader for 25 years. After retiring, he enrolled at St. Philip’s College and graduated with an Associate’s degree at the age of 72. He was the oldest graduate in his class and received a standing ovation from the crowd.
Juan G. Regino is preceded in death by his loving wife, Juanita M. Regino, whom he was married to for 62 years; mother, Petra G. Regino; sisters, Joaquina G. Suarez and Juanita G. Rodriguez; brother, Antonio G. Regino; great-grandson, Rene Blancas, Jr. He is survived by his five children, Lydia Regino, Dalia Regino, Tony Regino, Sylvia R. Lopez (David) & Carolina R. Blancas (Michael); 15 Grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, & 4 great great-grandchildren.
Juan was the patriarch of his growing family. He was an amazing husband, a selfless father and the most caring grandfather. He will be remembered for his kind nature, his great stories, his witty humor and his enormous love for his family. He will be forever missed.
Visitation will begin 5:00 pm Monday, October 19, 2020 at Trevino Funeral Home, 2525 Palo Alto Rd. with A Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm. A procession will depart the funeral home at 9:30 am Tuesday, October 20, 2020 for a 10:00 am Mass at St. Bonaventure Church. Interment to follow in First Memorial Park.

Visitation will be limited to 50 guests at Trevino Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be limited to 110 guests at St. Bonaventure Church.
Facial coverings must be worn at all times while in the building.
