

Juan "John" Tello, 69, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Friday, April 1, 2016 in San Antonio. John was born in Harlingen, TX on June 1, 1946, and grew up in San Jose, California. After graduating from James Lick High School in 1964, he served his country as an aviation mechanic in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1970. He earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of Texas at Arlington and went on to touch the hearts and minds of many children during his 18 year career as an elementary school teacher at Somerset I.S.D. After retiring from teaching, he helped numerous families find their dream homes during his second career as a licensed real estate broker.
He was preceded in death by his father, Juan Tello; his wife, Marilyn Tello; a sister, Lucy Rodriguez; and 2 brothers, Moises Tello and Ray Tello. Survivors include his mother, Maria Tello; his wife, Margiery Tello; daughter, Jennifer Tello Buntin and husband Philip; son, Phillip Karst and wife Jean; daughter, Emilie Carter and husband Andy, and daughter, Allison Karst and husband Roy Sauer; 14 grandchildren, Luke, Noah, Eli, Jonah, Abigail, Ethan, Olivia, Chelsea, Brianna, Cameron, Caden, Cameron, Hailey, and Lily and a brother, Roy Tello. He is also survived by an aunt, 3 uncles and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
John will be remembered for his generous heart, his sense of humor, his deep devotion to family and friends, his loving smile and warm hearted laughter. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.
