

Judy was born in Conway, South Carolina on September 20, 1941, and resided in Georgetown, South Carolina until her senior year in high school.
Judy was a student and educator all of her life. She received a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1962 from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. In 1974 she earned her Master's Degree in Language Arts from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Judy began her post master's studies and doctoral work in 1979 at the University of Texas at San Antonio UTSA and Texas A&M University.
Judy graced the lives of everyone she came into contact with. She was loved and respected by her colleagues and students at UTSA, where she taught Freshman Composition, Argumentative Writing and Technical Writing since 1980. Judy's current position at the time of her death was the Coordinator of the Writing Program at UTSA.
Judy was always engaged and active at UTSA and in her community. Among other things, she was the Faculty Advisor for Golden Key National Honor Society from 1994 to 2007 and the President of the North Central Thousand Oaks Neighborhood Association from 1995 to 1997.
Judy earned many awards and honors. Among these were the 2001 Piper Foundation Award, the 1999 Outstanding Faculty Award and the 1999 Outstanding Honors Faculty Award.
We loved her deeply and she will be missed.
Judy is survived by her loving husband, Lloyd Gardner; beloved daughter, Jennifer Moore and husband, Bill; and cherished grandchildren, Andrew and Nathan.
