I retired out of Brooks City Base in 2007. Col Fox was my Commander. I just now found out about her passing. She was one of the finest Commanders I ever had. I am saddened by this news.

I was searching for old friends tonight and found this memorial. I don't know if the O'Hair or Fox families will see this, but I needed to write this, even though it has been over 6 months. Karen was one of my closest high school and college friends, and the sorrow I feel for losing track of her is immense. She was my Maid of Honor when I married 31 yrs ago this coming Wednesday, and I lived with her family in Los Alamos for a semester in 1975. We were inseparable in high school, and soul mates in many ways even though our lives took different paths. Love you, Karen. God bless you and keep you in heaven.

Karen was a personal mentor and friend and I will miss her greatly. She will continue to be an inspiration to me and many others as one of the strongest, smartest, yet friendliest and most compassionate women I have ever met. She was a true leader and role model.

Karen was simply an inspiration. She was our "Mom" for the RAM class of 1996 and made our time together very special. Karen was hard to keep up with as she was always going ahead and making sure things were in place for the rest of the class. Once again, she has gone on ahead of us. 
Our loss is her gain.

I just attended Karen's memorial this afternoon. What a beautiful tribute to a beautiful human being. I remember many evenings after work at Randolph AFB, Karen coming over to my office and making herself at home on my sofa. We both stayed late...whatever it took to get the job done. It was so nice to have a fellow colleague that had the same work ethic. I will remember those days fondly. The message today delivered by her husband Bill at the service was one that should be recorded for every human being to hear and ponder over. Thank you Bill for your message. I will share it the best I can.

Col Fox was a great woman and I will always remember her strength. I had the pleasure of working with her at Brooks City Base. She was one of my students in Spin class and I could always count on her to drive me and make the class even better.

I was a classmate of Karen's at USAFA. I remember her so well - her winsome smile, athletic strength, and intelligence. The journalists made a big deal of our first class of women, and with Karen's beauty she graced many a magazine and newspaper article. But her inner beauty is what shined the most. I am so thrilled to read here that she knows Jesus as her personal savior. What a time she is having now, in His arms, with no pain or sorrow! Well done, Karen. You finished the race well. We are proud of you.

I met Karen a couple years ago at church ~ she and Bill were my parents' friends and were in their Sunday School class. We enjoyed Easter dinner together and got to know them better; what a sweet couple! Karen and my mother became very good friends. She always shared an interest in me, and made me feel special by her caring spirit. She was willing to share her professional opinion on multiple occasions too. :-) Such an amazing woman with a beautiful countenance; she was so courageous, and even last Sunday (the 7th) she was talking about sewing doll clothes for her soon-to-be born granddaughter. Precious. There is nothing sweeter and at the same time harder than releasing a loved one to be in the arms of Jesus. I remember that with my dear grandmother. Death, where is your sting? Grave, where is your victory? Praising the Lord with you that our hope is in the resurrected Christ! Know that you are loved and continuing to pray for you, as her family, to find comfort and peace.

We are so sorry for your loss. It was great seeing Karen in August. She always had a lovely smile. We are thinking of you!

Karen and I were classmates at the USAF Academy and crossed paths in classes as well as in the gym as inter-collegiate athletes. Of course, her swimming skills far out-weighed mine as my goal was not to drown! Karen, you were such a dear, dear friend who always had time to give to others despite the illness that you were in the midst of. You were so brave to endure with such fortitude and you were such a testimony for all. This cancer was the catalyst that brought you to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and you were so faithful to our Lord to give your testimony before the entire congregation. A Church service that was televised and you with not a hair on your head! Bold, strong and very courageous, that describes who you were! What a sincere follower of Christ! I miss you dear one, a Bible study classmate, a fellow Sunday School member, a 'pew buddy' and a faithful friend in all of our life's circumstances. I'm immeasurably saddened by this news. Dr. Fox is thought of with great, loving respect by countless people who were fortunate enough to know her, and also by those who were blessed to have worked with her. I served with her Langley Air Force Base for the blink of a year, and I was always blown away by her ability to juggle a myriad tasks, in many diverse areas, and acquit herself as a recognized expert and deft diplomat in each, and never showing the slightest stress. She was a rock of a leader, an articulate and inspiring commander, and a good friend. There are just a handful of physicians I knew in my career that could do the impossible and fire on all cylinders, along with supporting those who worked for them. Karen ranks at the top with them. She was the first recipient of Langley's Order Of The Blade, which we instituted to honor those officers who shone as caring leaders and outstanding professionals. I am shaken and devastated, but I know that whatever challenge she faced, she did so with aplomb, bravery, and a positive light that gave comfort to everyone around her.

So sorry to hear this news, Dr Fox was one of the finest officers and doctors I ever worked with. She truly cared about everyone, no matter their rank. She was a class act. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Karen was a saint, persevering to the end, always interested in others and sharing her medical knowledge to help them, faithful to her Lord, her Sunday School class and Church. We have been blessed to know her and be her friend. Although we'll miss her, she will be enjoying her Lord's presence along with all the host of angels and the saints who have gone before her. 1 Tim 4:8 "Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing."

I was always grateful for Karen's tireless efforts on behalf of the men and women at Randolph AFB where we wer both squadron commanders. She cared for the troops like no other. She was also a great friend who was always there to provide "mutual support" as we served in what was considered non-traditional roles for women. Karen touched so many lives -- we are all richer for having known her.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I was one of Karen's classmates, one of the many Karens in our class at the academy.I remember Karen sitting in the second row next to me in one of our engineering courses, I think that was the only class we ever had together. Interesting how well i remember she was in the course and i do not remember anyone else who was in the course. Which says a lot about Karen, I remember how nice she was and how she was a very good swimmer. I believe she is now looking down on us with her wonderful smile. Peace to you Karen
