Katherine G. Allen

Katherine “Kay” Gloria Allen April 20, 1932 – September 10, 2023, beloved wife, devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a great-great grandmother was called home by the Lord Sunday September 10, 2023, at the age of 91.

Born in Haverhill, Massachusetts to James D & Rose Grandanetti Fazzio, she was the youngest of 5 children. In 1952 she married the love of her life Gordon R. Allen, Sr. She embraced the life of an Army wife, and created a loving home wherever duty called. Her family was transferred to San Antonio in 1975, and she was a faithful member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church for over 45 years. Faith & family were the pillars of her life.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers & sisters, (Joseph, Frank, Viola & Rose) her loving husband of 66 years, MSGT Gordon R. Allen, Sr. (Ret.) She is survived by her 4 children, daughters Rose and Kathy, sons James, and Gordon Jr., daughter-in-law Brenda, 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 25th @ 5:00 pm with the Rosary to begin at 6:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home 1701 Austin Highway San Antonio, TX 78218. Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 26th @ 10:00 am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church 4411 Moana Drive San Antonio, TX 78218, followed by Interment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd. San Antonio TX 78209. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
